By Road - Forest Cottage is situated about 3 miles from the main A9 road from Perth to Inverness and 10-minutes by car from Aviemore.

From the North:

Leave the A9 and follow signs for Aviemore on the B970.

Just before the roundabout you will see a big brown sign for ‘Rothiemurchus, Glenmore, The Cairngorms and Mountain Railway’ La Taverna restaurant will be on your left hand side, turn right at this roundabout, cross the bridge and you have now entered the Rothiemurchus Estate.

Just after you pass TreeZone on your left, take the first road on the right signposted ‘Inshriach, Feshiebridge, Insh, B970’.

Carry on along this road for approximately 1 ½ miles until you come to a brown sign for ‘Loch an Eilein’, turn left and follow this single-track road with passing places.

Just before you reach the sign for ‘Loch an Eilein Car Park’, you will see a gate on the left with a sign with the word ‘End of public road’, you need to go through this gate, you just need to unclip the hook, open the gate (it might swing back), drive through, close the gate behind you and then clip the hook back onto the gate.

Follow this track (please drive extremely slowly as there are likely to be walkers around) and when you reach the loch, go straight on keeping the loch on your right. After approx. ¼ mile, the road will go into the woods and up a small hill and you will see Forest Cottage in front of you on the left – you can park at the side of the cottage – you have arrived!
